ABOUT US
We are a small boating club located in Crescent City Florida. The Crescent City Yacht Club was founded in July 2008. The purpose of the club is to enhance the freedom its members seek through boating. We promote boating, encourage the exchange of ideas and information among boaters and seek to provide an atmosphere for camaraderie among people who believe that time a bad time upon the water is better than a good day at work. We sail or motor on Lake Crescent, Dunn’s Creek, the St. Johns River and all waterways and shores with respect to the environment and others.

The activates involving our club:

Do you need a yacht to join? No, you do not. In fact, according to the definition of yacht ... "A yacht is a recreational boat or ship. The term originates from the Dutch word jacht "hunt", and was originally defined as a light fast sailing vessel used by the Dutch navy to pursue pirates and other transgressors around and into the shallow waters of the Low Countries." The modern use of the term designates two different classes of watercraft; sailing and power boats. Yachts differ from working ships mainly by their leisure purpose, and it was not until the rise of the steamboat and other types of a powerboat that sailing vessels, in general, came to be perceived as a luxury, or recreational vessels. Later the term came to encompass motor boats for primarily private pleasure purposes as well.

Of course, we do not have to chase pirates away, except for those who try to steal certain refreshments from our coolers.

Whether you own a boat or not Crescent City Yacht Club is for you! We enjoy getting together on either land or water. We pride ourselves on being a club for all ages."
